Hello lovely, I’m Lucy – your Maternity, Newborn, Baby and Family photographer based in York, North Yorkshire, bringing you all the best tips, gorgeous baby photos and experiences to make your parenting journey that little bit more special. Today, I want to run through a few of the main questions I get asked to help you decide if I am the photographer for you! If you have any other questions, please pop a comment below or send me a message and I’ll come back to you!
Where is your studio based?
My family photography studio is based in Heworth, York. I am a short walk from the centre of town and, as I have parking available, it is the perfect place to come to, leave feeling INCREDIBLE and go and have a little date afternoon or meal out to continue that feeling.
What can I expect during my first birthday photoshoot?
First birthday photography sessions are SO much fun. I don’t really need to go in to the reasons as to why you would want to capture their first birthday – they only get one and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
We capture a few different outfits, lots of toys, lots of playing with you and and siblings that they may have. There is nothing that is too posed or forced because lets face it.. if you’ve gone a baby around that age, you’ll know they don’t do quite as they’re told to!
If you would like to capture them using a cake smash, then we can do this too! I have lots of recommendations for cakes which work perfectly during a shoot without making your little one feel a bit sicky.
Should you wish to, we can also pull out the bubbly bath! This is brilliant way to capture lots of smiling and is a great tool if they’re getting a bit tired.
When should I book my first birthday photoshoot?
Any time! I have lots of parents who book straight after their first birthday session to make sure that you have your date booked in the diary.
When will my sitter photoshoot take place?
First birthday sessions are.. well.. as it says on the tin.. around their first birthday! We can do it on the actual birthday or we can do it so that you have the photos in time for their birthday in the month prior!
How long will my first birthday photoshoot last?
First birthday photography sessions usually last around 1-1.5 hours – this all depends on their mood and how much fun they are having!
Can my other children come to the first birthday photoshoot?
YES. Yes, yes, yes, yes and yes some more. Now sessions with siblings are definitely a little more chaotic than those without siblings but we wouldn’t have it any other way! I tell my families to ABSOLUTELY bring older siblings along!
We will capture them on their own too so they don’t feel like they are missing out!
Do I need to bring any clothes to my first birthday session?
I have a wide variety of outfits so you don’t need to worry too much! But I would always recommend bringing something so that you know you will feel comfortable. Upon booking, you will recieve a full welcome guide that has all of my top tips in for wardrobe!
Do I have to choose my package before my first birthday photoshoot?
Nope, not at all. You don’t need to choose a package or pay your final payment until after you have seen the watermarked gallery of your first birthday photography session.
How long is it after my first birthday photoshoot will I receive the watermarked gallery?
I aim to get your first birthday shoot gallery to you within 1 to 2 weeks. These will have the initial edit for viewing only – following your selection of images, I will go through and hand edit all images to ensure they are perfect for you.
Before I start this process, you can also request any little tweaks that you might want.
Do you provide prints and wall art?
I absolutely do! My luxury albums and prints are available following your shoot – during your maternity shoot, I will show you some examples should you wish to see them.
Newborn photography at my York photography studio is a gorgeous way to capture the magic of your growing family. These sessions aren’t just about photos; they’re about freezing moments together as a family.
Feel free to explore my website for more information and to see some of the photography I’ve captured. Have questions? Send me a little message here, lovely! I’d love to hear from you.
Best wishes,
Lucy xx
