Congratulations - and welcome! I'm so glad you found me.
Those first days with a new baby are unlike anything else. They're overwhelming and magical and gone before you've had a chance to catch your breath. A session with me gives you something rare.. an unhurried morning with nowhere to be, no visitors, no appointments, no phone. Just you, your baby and a hot cup of tea while I quietly capture everything you never want to forget.
I'm often one of the first places families venture out to with their newborn, which means I take that responsibility seriously.
My studio just outside York, next to Wigginton. It is warm, calm and completely set up for you.. not just your baby. You'll be comfortable, you'll be looked after, and I promise there is no rush.
You wouldn't think twice about photographing your wedding day. I'd argue the arrival of your baby is even more worth capturing. These are the tiny fingers, the sleepy stretches, the way they curl up impossibly small, and they are gone so fast.
Let me hold onto them for you.
When to come
Newborn sessions take place between 7 and 10 days after birth - when your baby is at their most wonderfully squishy and sleepy. If your little one arrives early or late, we simply shift your date to match.
What's included
From the moment you book, I'm on hand for anything you need. You'll receive a full welcome guide packed with outfit inspiration, tips for preparing siblings and everything you need to feel completely ready before we meet.
On the day, you'll have full access to my studio wardrobe - carefully chosen pieces in a range of sizes, including options designed to sit comfortably over a postpartum bump. You'll also have a judgement free space to talk openly about anything and everything, with a cup of tea always on the go.
I'll guide you and any siblings through every moment, so nobody needs to wonder what to do or where to look.
How long will it take?
As long as it takes. Sessions typically run between 1.5 and 3 hours, but there is no clock here. If your baby needs a 45 minute feed - three times in a row - we pause, you get comfortable on the sofa, and we pick back up when everyone is ready.
This is where I do things differently to most photographers.
There is no time limit. Ever.
Your gallery
Around two weeks after your session, your private gallery of 70-110 hand edited images will be ready to browse.
Choosing your favourites is one of the loveliest parts of the whole experience.
- I recommend your newborn session take place between 7 and 10 days post-partum as this is when we get the most squishy-ness from your newborn! If your little one is early or late, we move your shoot date accordingly so no need to worry we will miss this slot. This just ensures that we can get those gorgeous wrapped, sleepy photos without your little one kicking the blankets away!
- Your newborn photography session will include full use of the studio wardrobe which has a range of sizes, carefully selected to stretch over your postpartum bump.
- I will also send a full welcome guide upon booking, this will have all my top tips and advice, including outfits and how to prepare older siblings, to look through before your session. Should you need anything further, I'm on hand from the moment you book until your shoot and onwards.
- A judgement free space (and I really mean that) for you to talk openly about anything and everything.. all with a cup of tea in hand.
- Between 60 and 100 hand edited images to choose from in a beautiful online gallery up to 2 weeks after your shoot.
- Sessions typically last between 1.5-3 hours however, there is no set time - I will go at you and your newborns' pace. Sometimes, they just need a 45 minute feed and that's okay, I promise you there is no rush. You will all pop your feet up, get comfy on the sofa and we can chat and sip tea.
- Full guidance and posing support for siblings and family shots.
- Your newborn gallery will be delivered via a private online gallery up to 2 weeks after your shoot.
A session fee secures your date and covers your time with me in the studio - midweek sessions are £100, weekend sessions are £150
After your session, you'll choose your images from your private gallery with packages starting from £250
Should your shoot take place at a time when other costs land, don't worry, I get it - we can set up a payment plan that works for you and your family
How do I book a newborn session when I don’t know when my baby will arrive?
We pencil in a shoot date for around 7-10 days after your due date. Once baby is here, let me know and we can adjust to suit! It’s important to get booked in whilst you’re still pregnant as I only have limited spaces each month.
How do I proceed with a booking?
Send me an email or message via my contact page with your ideal date, and I’ll let you know the next steps.
Can I change my shoot date after I’ve booked?
Yes! I allow all of my shoots 1 postponement option.
Is there parking?
Yes, plenty - there is space for three cars in front of the studio.
Do I need to bring anything?
After booking, you’ll receive a detailed welcome guide with all the information you’ll need - but don't worry, you just need yourself and the essentials.
What is your training?
I originally trained to be a teacher, specifically for primary education and have the associated qualifications, I always knew I wanted to work with children!
I am health and safety trained, specifically, in newborns and children alongside adults and older kids.
I am fully insured and have been trained by some of the best in the industry - I know how to wrap and hold a newborn safely. If you do not go with me, please do make sure the photographer you choose is also.
Above all of that, I am a Mum to 2 young children. I treat your children the same way that I treat my own.
