Why Seeing Your Photos in the Studio Feels Completely Different

When most families book their newborn photography session, they’re usually thinking about the photos themselves.

The sleepy baby cuddles.
The tiny toes.
The squishy cheeks.
The sibling moments that may or may not involve bribery with snacks…

What they don’t always think about is what happens after.

And for so many of my families… that ends up being one of the most emotional parts of the whole experience.

Because yes, I can absolutely send your gallery over for you to look through at home if that works best for your family. Life is busy, I completely get it.

But there’s something really special about coming back into the studio and seeing your images properly for the first time.

And I mean properly.

Not on your phone whilst stirring pasta, feeding the baby, answering your partner, and trying to remember if the toddler’s had a wee whilst trying to see past a watermark that might cover all the best parts of your images.

I mean sitting down… taking a minute… and actually seeing them.

At Home, Life Usually Gets In The Way

I know what family life looks like.

You tell yourself you’ll sit down tonight and go through your gallery together…

And then bedtime turns into chaos.

Someone’s hungry.

Someone’s overtired.

Someone’s asking where the book, that you KNOW you gave away, is.

And suddenly you’re trying to choose your favourite family photos whilst half watching the monitor and reheating the same cup of tea for the third time.

Very glamorous.

And before you know it, something really special becomes another thing on the list.

In The Studio, It Feels Different

When families come back to Lucy Rose Studios, it feels completely different.

No watermarks.

No distractions.

No tiny phone screen.

Just your images, shown properly, exactly how they deserve to be seen.

A glass of prosecco (or tea or coffee if that’s more your thing), a slice of something nice, a comfy sofa… and a chance to just be for a little while.

No rushing or pressure.

No “quick, choose your favourites before someone wakes up.”

Just you, looking at your family.

This is usually the bit where the tears happen.

Not always from mum, I should say…

Dads do a very good job of pretending they’ve “just got something in their eye.”

You See Things You Didn’t Even Realise Were There

This is one of my favourite parts.

When parents come back for their viewing appointment, they start noticing things they probably would’ve skimmed past at home.

The way your partner looked at you holding your baby.

Your toddler’s proud little face.

The tiny fingers wrapped around yours.

That soft expression on your face that you probably didn’t even realise I’d captured.

And suddenly it stops being “photos.”

It becomes your story.

And that feels completely different.

And Then… You Start Imagining Them In Your Home

This is where it gets really exciting.

Because instead of thinking:

“Which files do we download?”

You start thinking:

“That would look gorgeous in the hallway.”

“My mum would absolutely cry if she had that in an album.”

“I need that one on my wall.”

And this is exactly why I love in-person viewing so much.

Because your photos deserve better than sitting in your camera roll next to screenshots of nursery furniture and your Tesco shop.

They deserve to be seen.

Printed.

Held.

Passed down.

And Of Course… The Choice Is Always Yours

Some families genuinely prefer to choose from home, and that’s completely fine, there is that option.

But if you fancy a little time, a glass of prosecco, a slice of cake, and the chance to properly fall in love with your images…

Come back and see me.

I’ll look after your little one if you’d like me to, on the floor next to you. So you have that time to look through them without worrying.

I promise, it feels completely different.
