People often message me 2-3 months post partum and say how much they regret not having booked in a newborn session. Whilst it is NEVER too late, they really are that tiny, scrunchy newborn for a very short period and once they start to grow, they don’t stop. Booking in whilst you are pregnant ensures that we don’t miss that gorgeous little period.
But let’s break it down..
They’re only this tiny once! Let’s face it – babies grow faster than you can say “pass the nappies.” A newborn photoshoot captures the details, the hairy shoulders, the scrunchy nose, the bubble-blowing pouty lips, the tiny toes and everything in between. These are the things you’ll want to remember when they’re all grown up and asking for the car keys.
Sleeping babies! Newborns spend most of their time sleeping (when they’re not asking for food or a nappy change, of course). This is prime time for capturing those serene poses that will make your heart melt every time you look at them. After that two week period, they tend to sleep much less and can start to have some tummy bubbles as they grow making them a little more unsettled. That first 7-10 days really is the optimum time to capture your scrunch.
It’s a family affair. A newborn photoshoot isn’t just about the baby – it’s about the whole family. Whether it’s big siblings proudly holding their new baby brother or sister, or parents gazing lovingly at their little bundle of joy, these moments are priceless.
It also gives you and your family some uninterrupted time together. No hospital trips, no midwives, no health visitors and no family or friends popping their head in or calling. Whilst all are necessary and lovely, it can be quite intense during that first few weeks that you’re trying to get to know one another. Having some time just for YOU, is absolutely key.
No props, no problems! At Lucy Rose Studios, I really believe in keeping it simple. No need for elaborate props or gimmicks – just pure, timeless, natural light and your beautiful baby.
